Vmware Horizon Client



This guide describes how to install, configure, and use VMware Horizon ® Client™ software on a Microsoft Windows client system. This information is intended for administrators who need to set up a Horizon deployment that includes Microsoft Windows client systems, such as desktops and laptops. What is the horizon client version you are running? Did you install it from windows store? Are you connecting internally or from external network? Does the connection goes through a security server/UAG/load balancer? Check if VMware Knowledge Base helps Or else please provide the client log bundle and share:VMware Knowledge Base. VMware Horizon Client for Chrome makes it easy to work on your VMware Horizon virtual desktop and hosted applications from your Chromebook giving you on-the-go access from any location. IMPORTANT NOTE: A VMware Horizon virtual desktop or hosted application is required to use the VMware Horizon Client for Chrome. On the client machine, run the downloaded VMware-Horizon-Client-2103-8.2.0.exe or VMware-Horizon-Client-5.5.0.exe. If you want to use the URL Content Redirection feature in Horizon 7 and newer, run the installer with the following switch: /v URLFILTERINGENABLED=1; Click Agree & Install. Or you can click Customize Installation.

Please follow the below instructions to install the VMware Horizon Client for Windows.

NOTE: Installing this application requires a reboot of your laptop or PC.

Vmware Horizon Client

    1. Download the VMware Horizon Client installer by clicking here.
    2. Double click on the VMware Horizon Client .exe file to launch the installation.
    3. If a “Security Warning” window appears, click on the “Run” or “Yes” button.
    4. A normal application install window will appear. Click on the “Agree & Install” button.
    5. Once the installation completes, click on the Finish button.
    6. You will be prompted to restart your computer, click “Restart Now”.
    7. Once you have rebooted, follow the linked instructions to log in to VDI with 2-Step Verification (2SV).

VDI requires a modern laptop, PC, or tablet.
In general most laptops that are less than 4 years old will run the VDI client without an issue. More detailed laptop requirements can be found in our student guide.
